My boy Morrisey is at it again this time fighting the never ending battle for Animal Respect all the way to Buckingham Palace.
Morrisey wrote a letter to The Times printed August 2 as follows:
It is difficult not to look to the Queen herself — after all, they are her Guards, and she must surely be aware of the horrific process utilised to supply real bearskins for her Guards,” he wrote.
“The mere sight of each bearskin hat must surely jab at the Queen’s heart.”
He continued: “Yes, animal rights move different people differently, and there are even those who think that animals simply have no right to be, but there is no sanity in making life difficult on purpose for the Canadian brown bear, especially for Guards hats that look absurd in the first place, and which can easily be replaced by faux versions with no death involved.”
Personally I couldn’t fathom wearing a dead animal on my head. Just thinking that cracks me up and grosses me out at the very same time.
To continue tradition is one thing but to continue it in archaic ways is rather ridiculous.
Wearing animal pelts is just disgusting. There are so many options these days in “furs” “leathers” and “meats”, its a wonder its still so ‘weird’ and debatable.
Its simply smarter.
I will now give you readers at least a week without my vegan animal rights tree hugging crap and stick to music. These stories though (Farm Aid, Shirley Manson, this one right here) just scream to me though…so consider yourself preached to.
