Well my first Iron Maiden concert was great. I can’t believe that it took me about 25 years to first see these guys.
The amount of energy these guys put out will put any normal over 60 year old on a heart and lung machine.
Lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, at his age can put most of the young lead singers out there today to shame.
Some highlights to the show is when the entire crowd sung “Fear of the Dark” (My personal favorite). Also when they brought out a 12-foot high “Eddie”. He (that) even played the guitar.
The emotional part of the night is when Dickinson dedicated “Blood Brothers” to the late great Ronnie James Dio. Bruce made everyone raise the Dio invented “devil horns” towards the roof of Madison Square Garden.
I also loved when they played the new song “El Dorado” off the upcoming album “The Final Frontier”. The new album drops on August 12th. Review to follow.
The night started out with the mighty Long Island based Dream Theather. They ripped through 6 long songs in their 50 minute set, including “As I Am”, “Home”, “Rite of Passage” and the great “Pull Me Under”.
What was also cool was the special MSG Iron Maiden commerative T-Shirt that I was able to get my hands out before all the stands sold out of them. Helen posted a pic of it a coupla days ago
I was joined at this amazing show with one of my longtime and one of my best of friends Erez. Also our second favorite rock nyc editor Iman made a cameo.
If you went to the show I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. If you didn’t go, you don’t know what you missed. Definitely check the mighty Maiden. Hey, if they hit the area again perhaps I will go again.
