Irene Diamond is a friend of a friend and before I tell you about her well produced dance rock, I’ll tell you two other things.
1) My former assisant Gillian Beck is a friend of Irene’s on facebook.
and
1) When I was nineteen I was dating a back up singer in a disco band who played at Venus, Nightclub in Beirut. Quameese, a very funny improv comic, played there every night. And before they closed? Eveynight they played the dabqu.
I mention this because the girl (can’t remember her name -yeah, I know) big moment was singing lead on Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody To Love”. And Irene Diamond? Has cut a killer cover herself. Sounds like the disco band my ex played for.
It’s too speedy, so is her original “Rock Me” -also available for streaming on Irene’s myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/ireneadiamond
They both sound, dance orieted, poppy speedy, off center. they sound other.
i think I mean they sound original and not like anybody else I’ve heard. “Rock Me” is like an orchestra of diamonds…
I would like it to better but I don’t know how it can be better and true to itself…
