Karen Anne -lead singer of one of my fave bands in the world, Ramona, has been in town recording at James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins studio on 11th Avenue all week.
Karen is a pal and I was hoping she’d have the chance to meet up, not least because her manager Johnny McElhone, of Altered Images, Hipsway and Texas, was with her. So when will she call me? In the aftermath of a snow storm!!!! She dropped by my office and we then went to a local pub.
I knew Johnny and my friend and business partner Mike Ogletree would get on well. Mike was in Simple Minds and Fiction Factory. And they are both Scottish. It wouldn’t have surprised me if they already knew each other. I was close. Johnny knows Mike’s daughter, Amy!!
So I invited Mike along and we had a blast and I’ll write about it tomorrow
