Hot Hot Heat have played tons of times in Los Angeles, but I have always missed them for some reason, failing to see what the heat was really about. They are back with a new video ‘Goddess on the prairie’, which plays more like a mini movie than anything else.
The song is not even played in continuity but constantly interrupted by parts of the story about an old man crossing the Mexican-US border in Tijuana, in an ice-cream truck filled with another kind of hot female merchandise.
I am not sure I understand the concept of such a video, music videos used to be about the song, they were all about listening to it with images, sometimes a sort of scenario, but the star was the music.
Here, I’m not sure,… it is more about the short story of this old man driving a truck of Mexican prostitutes, than about the explosive pop song which makes a short apparition in between the scenes. The whole thing is beautifully filmed, but does not make a lot of sense and is very distracting from the music.
