Hey Kids, It’s Steve Tyler -by Wyatt Marshall

Oh, where to begin? I have never liked Aerosmith. They always seemed to ride the coattails of the Rolling Stones and were a watered-down version of bands like Guns ‘N Roses. Steven Tyler was particularly annoying with his scarf-laden mic stand. Whatever shred of my respect the band had went out the window with Armageddon.
Well, Steven Tyler has upped the ante. In the most recent, and perhaps most grievous, incident of supposed “rockers” going soft, Tyler has lent his voice to The Wonder Pets!, an animated children’s television show on Nick Jr., the version of Nickelodeon aimed at pre-schoolers. According to Wikipedia, “the show’s main characters are three elementary school school classroom pets – Linny the Guinea Pig, Turtle Tuck, and Ming-Ming Duckling. They are presented as a trio of heroes who rescue baby animals as they demonstrate the benefits of teamwork.”
Really, Steven?
Tyler is reported to contribute the voice of the Mad Hatter in an episode loosely based on Alice in Wonderland. The Wonder Pets will have to track the Mad Hatter and others down in order to “invite them to a special tea party.” Says Tyler, “What a blast! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do forever and to get a chance to do this is just another dream come true, another feather in the cap!”
It’s no secret that Aerosmith long went the route of mainstream acceptability, but you have to wonder how the rest of the band feels about this blow to their image.
Tea anyone?
