Hey Guy…..is a band.
They classify their genre as “textured”. I’m pretty glad they came up with that cuz I’m really not quite sure what I would have used.
I have nothing to compare them too.
I find bits of Ludo in their song “Lana”… but almost just like a pinch.
They head off in their own direction its unnerving but not in a bad way.
Its moody and confusing.
“Are You That Somebody” is swirly and trippy and but seemingly a more whimsical cover.
A zillion times better than Aaliyah.
Fun and strong and pleasingly rocked.
I see in their rather enormous Facebook bio (I am not kidding, read it. I skimmed) their influences include “Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, Latoya Jackson”.
Well maybe I can kick back on the porch and read that mega gram someday but instead I will speculate.
I bet you 200 bucks at least one member of the band is a huge Weezer fan, one is a huge Metallica fan and hmm another loves Iron and Wine.
Its a combination of harder rock with poppy chorus that makes Hey Guy, make me say ‘hey wait’.
There is alot of diversity here.
Misdirected perhaps at times but in the end it creates a really interesting and ‘textured’ modern sound.
