We may never agree again the way we agreed that Pantera saved metal from the annals of hair and lipstick and dragged it back underground. No matter that they came from hairmetal themselves, they didn’t remain there and we all know that without Pantera, no metalcore.
It all ended up in rock and roll hell when guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbot was shot to death, on stage no less, in 2004 and the moral of the story is holy hell, stuff does indeed happen.
Fast forward a decade and: “Fans erupted with fury last month after an outfit called Nuclear Hellfrost claimed responsibility for vandalising the Texas memorial to the guitarist, who was shot dead on stage in 2004. A statement from Pantera spoke of their “absolute disgust.”
Nuclear Hellfrost member Reece Eber later accepted sole responsibility and admitted: “I owe everyone an apology for my actions because they were uncalled for, were horrible and despicable.”
This Reece Elber may well be the stupidest man alive, it is one thing to radomly write homophobic slurs on the man’s grave, something else entirely to admit to it, and thereby causing extreme danger to other members of the band and yourself. These are strange days, guys, you can get yourself killed for that shit and if not you than how about Hellfrost, who have nothing to do with anything:
“Now a band named Hellfrost say they’re being misidentified as Nuclear Hellfrost – and that they’ve been receiving death threats ever since the grave desecration was revealed.
Mainman Sinjin Wheatley says: “Lately we have been receiving a lot of hate mail because people have been confusing us with Nuclear Hellfrost. We just want to clarify that we are not associated with them or the recent vandalism to Dimebag’s grave.”
I would not like to read their comments section, with the mask of anomity that inflicts the internet bad enough, they will be trolling out of the woodwork for this one. If the power of the crowd is the lowest common intellectual denominator, the power of the web is the lowest intellectual common denomimator to the nth degree.Nothing makes people worse than thinking they are invisible. Look at Curt Schilling -the great pitcher, who I hate with a passion because of what he did to the Yanks (but not HATE, sports hate, I don’t HATE hate Bono, I don;’t wish him harm, just laryngitis), who was forced to go after repuilsive invisible young men writing disgraceul, violent, vicious, comments about his 17 year old daughter, who had just gotten a softball scholarship, on twitter.
Meanwhile, the raging stupidity of people knows no bounds and Nuclear Hellfrost and Hellfrost should change their name.
