Bitterest Pills…

1. Bitter Rivals – Sleigh Bells – The new album is released today and this song leading up proves there is nothing much to worry about: a great synth lick pushes the duo all the way and the sound is filtered through to its focussed doctored vocals and weirdo bridge – B+

2. Rill Rill – Sleigh Bells – But this song off their first album is better: “wonder  what your boyfriend thinks about your braces”? Real world – A

3. You’re Gone – Paul Williams – This solo version is like the last days before the beginning of your life – A

4. Rainbow Connection – Kermit The Frog – If somebody were to say Williams, you will be remembered forever for this song, would it be enough? – A+

5. Movin’ Right Along – Kermit And Fozzie The Bear – Foot loose and fancy free – A-

6. Rainy Days And Mondays – The Carpenters – “Talking to myself and feeling old”? Williams describing his Mommy – A

7. For All We Know – The Carpenters – Karen sounds wistful even when she’s happy – A

8. Lean On Me – Bill Withers – The piano lick is a joining force – A

9. Bridge Burning – The Foo Fighters – Yeah, I guess it is not terrible – C+

10. Like Never Before – Shaggy – Every song on the new Shaggy album is excellent… I might have missed the boat a little on this one – A-
