1. A Lullaby For You – Maria Taylor – Sleep deprived Maria wrote this as a melody she sang to her infant son every night that slowly became a full song and lead her all the way to her current album, Something About Knowing, it is like a deep dream of infancy and hope and protection – A

2. What’ll Keep Me Out Of Heaven – Brandy Clark – Captures the moments of adultery with a “I’ve never be alone with him with this dress after dark” from the country songwriters debut album  – A-

3. The Time Before The Last Time – Los Campesinos – Same old Camps, great lyrics, shame about the melody – B+

4. There’s A Light That Never Goes Out – The Smiths – reminds me of Diana Spencer, though I wish it wouldn’t – A+

5. Where were You (When The World Stopped Turning) – Alan Jackson – Since you asked, it was the day after I saw Michael Jackson at MSG, I hadn’t been to sleep that night and I was in a bar near my home when it came on NY1. I took the last train back before all service stopped back to Manhattan to find my niece Louba, the one who just got married – C-

6. Here Comes The Night Time – Arcade Fire – Terrific dance track, melodic, and techno but the piano sounds analog to these ears – A

7. Won’t be Long Now – Linda Thompson – The thing about the album is some of it is pop –take this song by her son about living before you die – A

8. Story Of My Life – One Direction – Seriously iffy grown up 1D – C

9. Sugar Magnolia – Grateful Dead – From one of their two greatest albums – A

10. Pendulum – Pearl Jam – Sure, like time swinging between cradle and grave – A-
