Hard Copy by Helen Bach

Whens the last time you went to the store and purchased a CD?

I do it still now and then. Especially if I love the band I want the case the pictures and the liner notes.

But seems less and less are doing that.

Universal Music group seems to think its the cost. I don’t. I think that were to damn lazy to do anything but point and click.

But…

Universal is launching a $10.00 cd promotion.

“It seems pretty obvious to us that a dedicated fan will gladly pay for extra content, for deluxe versions,” Universal head of distribution Jim Urie told the Times. “But the casual fan isn’t willing to pay $15 for a regular CD.”

They’re calling it a music industry stimulus plan.

I’m calling it a waste.

Those of us who buy physical cds are ok with getting them for $15.00. But I don’t think the online buyer is going to leave the house, hoof it to the store, stand in line, wrestle the plastic wrap and safety seal tape (WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT AND WHY CAN I NEVER GET THAT SLICED OPEN?) take the disc burn it to the computer and download it to their mp3 player…

to save $5.00.
