The Hangout Music Fest For A Great Cause -by Alyson Camus

The Hangout Music Fest is working for a great cause, as last year it donated all its profit to the Gulf Coast Restoration efforts; it is back this year for its second year with quite an impressive line-up:

Headliners: Paul Simon, Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket and The Flaming Lips.

And Cee Lo Green, Primus, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Girl Talk, Ween, Matisyahu, Warren Haynes Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Slightly Stoopid, Drive-By Truckers, Amos Lee, Old Crow Medicine Show, G. Love & Special Sauce, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Keller Williams, Galactic, Xavier Rudd, Minus the Bear, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Portugal. the Man, Beats Antique, Dead Confederate, Jonathan Tyler & Northern Lights, Easy Star All-Stars, Mariachi El Bronx, Truth & Salvage Co, Kristy Lee, Civil Twilight, Rich Aucoin, A Thousand Horses, Jon Black, Cas Haley and Roman Street.

It lasts for three consecutive days and if it were a little bit closer to California, I would not hesitate a minute. But you have to go to Gulf Shores, Alabama to attend it.
The Gulf area has suffered so much and is far from having recovered, … There’s no need to remind everyone about Katherina in 2005, and the BP oil spill in 2010!
Festivals like this are stimulating the local economy and provide a much needed financial support.
And this line-up could almost make you feel guilty to be helping a good cause.
