Gym Class Heroes is streaming their new song "Ass Back Home"(feat. Neon Hitch). It's off their album The Papercut Chronicles II which came out Nov. 5th.
I think the song is a big step up for the guys because it really shows off their talent and is absolutely GCH dance-around-your-room material. It's catchy and is a bit reminiscent of their old stuff but it shows they've matured as well. Also, surprisingly enough, the girl's voice doesn't annoy me at all. It's not great, but most certainly tolerable. It really adds a lot to the song, too.
The band's pizzazz is definitely still there. The rapping's genius, and the lyrics are punchy with a lot of hooks and clever lines. The beat makes it a good party song, and it'll be a good one to sing along to.
However, it's super obvious it's a single because usually singles have the featured artist, and they tend to feel a bit forced- like this tune. A few parts of it just don't feel natural. Still, it'll please the new and old fans and hopefully it's just preparing them for hearing the rest of their new album.
The lyric video's pretty interesting, and they're planning to be filming an actual music video super soon! For now check out the lyric video:
