Word comes today that the fair haired rocker has actually had a liver transplant yesterday morning at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida
Word has it that he is doing well and is only just a bit groggy.
Hard living rock and roll kills more than a liver. Reports state that Allman aged 62 is looking forward to the chance “to feel really healthy and good, and hopefully live for many more years to come”
Wonder how long he was on the transplant list.
Rather than soapbox this one about how celebrity allows you to destroy and start again while those afflicted through genetics or no fault of their own sit on lists until death…I will simply quote the most head in the sand bull sentiment to roll our way in years;
To Quote ‘The Examiner’
“Even with Greg Allman’s history of heavy drug use including cocaine and heroin not to mention the gallons of alcohol that he claims to have ingested over his lifetime he still suspects his liver failure problems from Hepatitis C were brought on by a tattoo needle.”
