Great Weekend Ahead… Far ahead: Pavement On the 24th, Titus On The 25th by Iman Lababedi

I saw Pavement a coupla times in their heyday. Best time, I was talking to Robert Nevin telling how great they were before a show in  small club, and this lanky guy is like towering over me, and between him and Bobby, who is also a tall glass of water, I am feeling like a fucking munchkin and am ready to deck this bloke, who walks past me and goes on stage. YES A LITERAL BRUSH WITH GREATNESS, it was Stephen Malkmus on his way to the stage.
A great set as well, circa Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain so all killer no filler. Can’t remember the club, I saw Yo La Tengo there as well… nope, it’s not coming.
Any way, I am seeing Pavement at Summerstage a week today and then the very next day, Titus Andronicus at Irving Plaza. I haven’t seen them since the opening date of their Monitor tour. I was introduced to the great Cloud Nothings that night.
This time I already know what I am waiting for: the indie pop group Free Energy, whose fabulous Stuck On Nothing has been blowing me away for weeks now.
I’ve got a feeling Titus are gonna kill -especially if they don’t go on at the ungodly witching as they did last time i saw em. I had reached Bowery Ballroom at 6pm to interview Patrick and by the time the band got on stage I was dead…
PLUS, I now have a real good handle on the masterful The Monitor and hope they play some new stuff  as well.
As for this weekend? A lotta writing seems to be a distinct possibility.
