The first ever "rock album" I bought with my own money was The Young And The Hopeless by Good Charlotte. I clearly remember dancing around my room to "The Anthem" and "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous". They were my favourite band, and introduced me to the kind of music I like today.
Unfortunately, the band released a statement saying that they are taking an "extended" break.
Benjii Madden said "We're stepping away from the grind of making records and touring for a minute, just to have fun and be creative like we were when we were 15." I really hope that this doesn't go on for a long time. Good Charlotte, to me, are among the founders of the genres of music today.
Benjii, along with his brother Joel have a new project. It'll be a mixtape sort of deal, titled Before The Fame: The Madden Brothers. It'll be released on October 1st. It features the brothers with various artists.
Joel Madden, Benjii's twin, said "We're already having a blast in our studio with all these new artists making music just for fun. And the mixtape's free, they're going to get it for free, there's no quota we're trying to fill, there's no machine we're trying to fuel, we just want to make music with new artists and god bless EMI, they let us do what we want."
I hope the whole band comes back from hiatus, stronger than ever. Who knows, this break could be beneficial.
