Chi Chi Cheng – The Deftones first bassist, Chi Chi played with them from beginning and on their first five albums, including their breakthrough 2000's White Pony. The loud/soft metal grunge coming of age party happened here, moving metal past both. In 2008, Cheng was in a car crash and never fully recovered. He was 42.
Tim Carr – An A&R exec who worked with the Beastie Boys, Megadeth, Babes in Toyland, David Byrne, Lush, Ash and others during stints with Capitol, Warner Bros. and Dreamwork, died with a knife to his stomach in Thailand and it is now being called murder. He was 57,
Maria Tallchief – One of the great ballerinas of the 20th Century and the great choreographer George Balanchine's wife and muse, she took the ballet world by storm in the late 1940s. She was 88 years old.
Don Blackman – The popular jazz pianist, began his career Charles McPherson before moving on to Parliament/Funkadelic and a successful career as a solo performer and a session played. He was 59 years old.
Sir Colin Davis – was the prinicipal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra from 1995 to 2006 -the longest in the LSO's history. He was 85 years old.
