Marla Mase is to be joined by Tomas Doncker and several members of the Global Soul family on a trip to China, leaving tomorrow for a week, culminating in a performance in Linzhou, China for UN GLOBAL PEACE DAY on September 21. Tomas has said he will try to write something about the trip for rock nyc. But until then, Marla Mase, True Groove recording artist and a terrific rock and blues singer who can scream with the best of them, has recorded a new song with Tomas and the Global family, working a simple as hell play on words "Give me a piece of peace" into a powerful call for world harmony.
But, oddly enough, it isn't a peaceful song, perhaps because her request for peace has not been answered. Instead the band pound a hard rock riff into the floor and Marla is all over it.. The highlight is a brilliant guitar solo which is placed there as a bridge but pulls the song into another direction. Marla's audience, 24,000 people, was obviously on her mind, this song isn't written to be spoken through by a large audience. This is written to grab em and keep em and it does, it will.
So what exactly are our friends going to China for? I will quote the press release rather than rewriting it:
