Glam Saturday: Damn Yankees

Damn Yankees – one of the first of the supergroups from the 80s/early 90s glam/hair metal days.

This band consist of a few great musicians who you would probably never think would be in a band together.

Styx’s Tommy Shaw, Night Ranger’s Jack Blades, and the Motor City Madman Ted Nugent.

On drums was then little known Michael Cartellone (who would later play drums with Lynyrd Skynyrd).

This band, like all supergroups were short lived.  They only released two albums.  Their self titled debut in 1990, and their sophomore effort “Don’t Trend” in 1992.

Their mega-hit was “High Enough”.  Which is still played today on some stations.  It can even be heard in the Broadway show, “Rock of Ages”.

My favorite tune from the Damn Yankees was “Coming of Age”.  This was their first single.

Nugent kicks some major ass on this tune, as well on their debut album.

Probably egos and money is what separated this band.  They were short lived, but their legacy lives on. For some reason Damn Yankees don't wantthe video  embedded
