Irish rocker and former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore, has died in his sleep yesterday at the age of 58, while he was on holiday in Spain.
He joined Thin Lizzy in 1973 to replace Eric Bell, who declared to the BBC on Sunday he was still in shock at Moore’s passing: ‘I still can’t believe it, he was so robust, he wasn’t a rock casualty, he was a healthy guy. He was a superb player and a dedicated musician.’
Thin Lizzy founding member, Brian Downey who had known him since 1967, said More had been an amazing friend ever since.
Moore played with Thin Lizzy at different periods, performed with many other artists such as Albert Collins, George Harrison, Ginger Baker, Ozzy Osbourne, Jim Capaldi, The Beach Boys and Greg Lake, and even had a successful solo career.
Our thoughts go to Gary Moore’s family and friends.
