Gaga And Ono Togerther For The First Time -by Alyson Camus

Lady Gaga joined Yoko Ono on stage this weekend for her Plastic Ono band thing, at the Orpheum theater in LA…
I was not there, but there are a few videos floating on youtube. The least I can say is that they made a weird couple, Gaga, in a long silver blond wig, tight sparkling black jumpsuit that did not hide everything (she was exhibiting another kind of fresh meat this time), and huge platform heels, towering short Yoko in a black suit pant and a hat that made her look like some kind of Asian communist dictator.
One of these videos is particularly hilarious or pathetic depending your take on it: At the end of it, Yoko Gaga, as the LA Times called the odd couple, is lying on a grand piano, screaming at each other (I am especially talking about Yoko), and finishing in an awkward big female embrace,… shit, just watching this video made me uncomfortable, so weird to see this 77/24 year old couple rolling over each other.

Gaga sang ‘The sun is down’, ‘Between My Head and The Sky’, and ‘It’s Been Very Hard’ in duet with Ono, and of course the voices cannot really be compared, Yoko making her bizarre half-cat-half-goat noises; so is she just courageous to compete with Lady Gaga’s organ or simply unaware of her lack of that same organ?

I don’t know, but watching these videos make me think Gaga was the show by herself and eclipsed the rest of the guests, who are barely mentioned in some reviews. She was taller than everyone else, and it was not a pure coincidence.

But let’s face it, Yoko Ono could have had anybody on that stage for her show, probably almost no one would have said no to her, but she is smart, and inviting Lady Gaga, one of the most preeminent figure in the pop culture right now, was a successful move because everyone is talking about the Yoko Gaga Ono band today.
