Anyway, Fuck Yeah Fest was renamed FYF in 2009 but it all started 7 years ago at the initiative of Keith Morris (Black Flag and Circle Jerks) and his friend Sean Carlson. It’s a great festival, which is happening during the Labor Day weekend and which is growing every year.
25 years old Sean Carlson founded the fest, which has evolved from a various venues throughout Echo Park festival to a vast outdoor three-stage event. Sean has been booking the festival with the help of Keith Morris, and each year the fest has more then 60 bands…
This year line-up?
It’s simple I haven’t seen any of these bands live, and have only heard of some of them, so there are many of them I am ready to check out such as the dance-punk-ready-for-disco The Rapture, Animal Collective founding member’s solo work Panda Bear, Flaming Lips’ touring friend, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti because the term ‘freak folk scene’ is a complete program by itself, Indie punk rocker Ted Leo and the Pharmacists whose songs I have heard great things of, the punk-noise Wavves because Iman mentions them all the time, Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones, Folk Indie rockers The Mountain Goats, and Vetiver’s quiet folk rock (because I will have to rest my ears in between noisy bands), and why not Hardcore punk Unbroken, doom metal Sleep, rock nyc faves Screaming Females are always great live and, of course, above all of them, Titus Andronicus, discussed 1000 times on rocknyc, and whose frontman Patrick Stickles was interviewed by Iman.
But there are many more: !!!, Man Man, Delorean, Cold Cave, 7 Seconds, Thee Oh Sees, Washed Out, Davila 6666, School Of Seven Bells, AA Bondy, the Blow, Best Coast, Warpaint, The Soft Pack, Abe Vigoda, Off!, Ceremony, Big Freedia, Cults, Magic Kids, The Growlers, Lower Dens, Let’s Wrestle
all these in one day? How is this possible?
