The Future Is Uncertain And The End Is Always Near

I staggered home in the early hours last night singing Titus songs on the top of my lungs into the great dark night and woke up a coupla hours later to another drinking song, this one co-written by Dan McGee and Paul Linn, but my actions were all Jim Morrison.

I got a beer and a cup of coffee and put on some Screaming Females in appreciation of Jarret (the drummer I believe -I’ll check it out a little later) contacting me to clear up why they ignored my request for an interview (their PR woman never told em).

I think we’re gonna do an email interview. I have recommended to helen she do the same thing when a band can’t meet in person. What happens is the band is at one PC, you’re at the other, and you send questions and answers back and forth. Then you cut and paste and, well I would say voila but it sounds poncey.

Of course what you gain is you don’t have to transcribe a tape and trust me transcribing tapes is hell on earth: it takes five hours to transcribe a one hour conversation of you (the interviewer) acting like a sycophantic dick and they (the interviewee) squirming uncomfortably wondrin if fame and fortune is worth the effort of being stuck in a room with a clearly intoxicated bloke who is monopolizing the conversation.

So anyhow I seatched the Doors on my Ipod and sure there was “Roadhouse Blues”  off Morrison Hotel (four minutes and five seconds trivia fans) maybe their greatest moment, certainly their greatest album. It’s for people who like to go down real… slow!!

Ohhh and what else do we have….

Jail Guitar Doors –  The Clash – I never noticed before how much the opening sounds like “I Fought The Law” and honest, I could spend a life time singing “Clang, clang…”

Closing The Doors – Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps – Outta Minneapolis, I really thought the 2008 Backyard Tent was gonna break national. Maybe this year.

Soul Kitchen – X – Geez, my Ipod search is a smart arse. From the Los Angeles album of course. I shoulda mentioned Exene (and Johnny Rotten) in my brushes with greatness post yesterday.

The End – The Doors – At least the end of this post.
