A coupla years ago, around the time Vol. 1 was released I caught She And Him at Webster Hall -instead of Hiro ballroom and a day later because, Zooey Deschanel -the she in question, had a sore throat.
I liked and didn’t love Vol 1 but I loved Zooey’s voice.
They are a bit of a snooze. M. Ward is a lotta a snooze.
Vol. 2, the follow up, is pretty fucking lousy and I had no intention of wasting any more time on the lethargic duo, even in the comfy confines of Bowery Balroom. Luckily brooklynvegan saved me the bother.
Still love Zooey’s voice, wouldn’t mind hearing her manhandle the American songbook, and “Sentimental Heart” was good -and the Smokey cover easn’t the worst thing I’ve ever heard.
