Freddie Garrity Dreaming In Heaven

I was sorry to hear of the death of Manchester native Freddie Garrity (Freddie in Freddie and the Dreamers) on may 19th.

Garrity was part of the British Invasion in the wake of the Beatles but, even more than Gerry and the pacemakers and Herman And the Hermits, he was a child’s delight.

All legs and elbows on songs like the pure Merseybeat sound “I Was Made for You” and “I’m Telling You Now” the fun pop band were harmlesss, but (highly cheorographed) somewhat ingenious.

In the States they hit big with “Do The Freddie”.

And back in the UK remained a much loved character in show biz.

I can just see jesus and Buddha doing the Freddie right now…

Er, actually Garrity died in 2006 (May 19th so i got that part right)  but since it’s written I might as well post it. Tomorrow we will be breaking the story of Michael Jackson’s passing.
