Four Years Of Marches!

In April 2009, I started 2009 rock nyc and by March 2010 I had lost track of what concerts I was going to, so I started keeping a calender of concerts and I am now going to share it with you!

OK, here we go:

Saturday, March 6th, 2010 – Titus Andronicus – Bowery Ballroom – They got on stage at midnight and I fell asleep before the end.

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 – Julian Casablancas – Irving Plaza – Much better than with the Strokes at MSG a coupla years later, this was the goods in a hot, sweaty, sold out club and I got near the stage for once.

Thursday, March 25th, 2010 – American Idiot – Disastrous musical. What were Green Day thinking?

Friday, March 26th, 2010 – Spoon – Radio City Music Hall – I can't take these indie rockers, they bore me to death and I was exhausted as well. Debatably, this was the worst review I've ever written. Though the post name ("Average White Bland" -haha) made up for it a little and when I saw em a coupla months later opening for Arcade Fire they sucked any way.

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 – Doug Keith – Mercury Lounge – Greater singer songwriter was pushing a very very good album.

March 9th, 2011 – Bright Eyes – Radio City Music Hall – Not bad but not the Town Hall or even Toads. I felt mucht he same about the album.

March 16th, 2011 – Elton John – MSG – Greatest Hits? He had the audacity to sell this crapa s the Greatest Hits?

March 26th, 2011 – Rod Stewart – MSG – Now this was Greatest Hits. It ended up being the best show of 2011.

March 1st, 2012 – Van Halen – MSG – Lotsa old timers made a return last year. Van Halen were well and above the best.

March 4th, 2012 – The Secret Policeman's Other Ball – Radio City Music Hall – Both Coldplay and Mumford And Sons played mini sets and both were excellent.

March 17th, 2012 – Black 47 – BB Kings – No, they were not the Pogues. Sorry but… no.

March 20th, 2012 – Odd Future – Hammerstein Ballroom – The teenage rappers performed a career retrospective

March 22nd, 2012 – Black Keys – MSG – Cemented my distaste for the bores

March 30th, 2012 – Of Monstreal – Webster Hall – Masterful psychedelic dance part

And this year? Swedish House Mafia, Jason Aldean, Leonard Cohen, Prince Benefit, Dropkick Murphys, Soulfly, Atoms For Peace, Eric Contractor, Pink, Tyler The Creator, Sigur Ros, Taylor Swift and Nick Cave…
