The over-sold Toads Place was getting increasingly louder with the chant “FOUR YEAR STRONG! FOUR YEAR STRONG!” The band came out and immediately jumped in to “Tonight We Feel Alive” followed by crowd favourites like “Catastrophe” and other tunes off of Rise Or Die Trying.
Mixed in with some newer songs, they were diverse in their performance.
Their enthusiasm and energy was contagious. When they said they loved Connecticut, it went without saying we loved them back. They gave it their all and played their hearts out.
It really surprised me as I stood there and truly listened just how fantastic they are. Sure, I’ve been a fan for a while and I listen to them frequently, but I never saw how incredible they were. Probably one of the best bands I’ve ever seen and I was blown away. Confident and having fun, they gave it their all and made everyone proud to be a fan.
What really got me is how nothing was different live. Usually a singer’s voice will be a bit different, or a guitar riff won’t go quite right, but Four Year Strong was flawless. The sound seemed to be a bit quiter than I expected, but besides that the band was perfect. I felt as though I was listening to the album, but getting ten times more out of it.
Easily one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live, I was beyond impressed. and the crowd was too.
Tonight we felt alive.
