Four Letter Lie Slap Helen Bach And She Begs For More

Waking up today glad to be alive. There are some shows that just slap you awake.

Last night was one of those shows.

There will be a show review and interview with Joshua Moore of We Came As Romans (THANK YOU to Joey and Josh, you’re both fantastic) but before that were going to roll it out like a show and shine a light on my new discovery

Four Letter Lie, opened for WeCar, and slapped me awake. I didn’t see the first two bands cuz after our interview we took off for awhile. The Webster Underground is capacity at 250. We knew it was sold out, hot and primarily male so it was going to get rough, so we took a break on that amazing spring night and came back (THANK GOD) in time for Four Letter Lie.

First let me state that the stage is so small that if you ain’t a performer you’re going to be intimidated and stay still. Not 4letter. They worked tha stage like it was a coliseum. Lead singer Brian Negan has the most spine tingling beautiful voice for this genre. His enunciation made you hear the words the musicians turned like a carousel of sound.

I stood stunned.

there is a misconception in hardcore that if you can growl and drum roll you’re golden. On the contrary. The intricacy of making power melodic is intense. Generally you can feel the mechanics of it. The repetition. Four Letter Lie, made hardcore look as easy as breathing.

The band’s third album, A New Day, was released on 13 October 2009 through Victory Records and have toured non stop.

As the band dismantled I was tempted to drop them my card and get a few words but they were over heated and being bombarded by well wishers. I decided (now to my regret) to stay back and let them be enveloped by their new (and existing) fans.

In the anti room the kids were buzzing..”the kicked ass”, those guys were “beast”.

I saw greatness last night. Four Letter Lie, I cannot wait to see you again. Thank you so much for an incredible set.
