Ford & Lopatin’s new LP Channel Pressure is something that everyone should be listening to while we still have some cool late spring/early summer evenings left.
The Brooklyn electronic duo, formerly known as Games, have put out an 80’s electro, funk laden, and fun album perfect for the season. Sounding like the soundtrack to the 1985 prom of your dreams,
Ford & Lopatin’s easy vibes are infectious and atmospheric, their lyrical content lying in the realm of burgeoning techno-centricity. Check out the song “Voices” below and the video for “Strawberry Skies,” created when the group still used the moniker Games, featuring Laurel Halo. It’s one of my favorite electro songs and, with a mashup of showerheads spewing water and throwback clips of very 80’s chicks dancing, showering, and answering telephones, one of the coolest videos I’ve seen.
