Florence And The Machine Shake up A Dowdy Year

Reviews have been more mixed than I thought, but still, considering some of the misguided drubbing in the English press, Metacritics 80% approval rate is well earned.

For once in a long while, I agree with Rolling Stones 4 star review; this is big time rock and roll; this is a big sound without the exttra machismo of a male dominated band; so Florence's large voice both blows you away and keeps you settled.

Other reviewers disliked her bombastic manner. The Observer in a ticking bomb of a review claim Ceremonials "Never comes down off the high precipice." And I guess it doesn't but I don't see why it should.

Me, I'll review it at a later date but I am on the precipice between an "A-" and an "A". It is certainly one of the smartest albums of the year even if it is hard to cozy up to.
