1. Fall In Love With You – The Shadows go "woah woah woah" in the background while Richards, with a voice that melts you, pleads: "please give me one more chance, this is my first romance". The acoustic guitars sound a touch Hawaiian. A huge hit in the UK, but it didn't cross over. Let me save some time, the same can be said of every song here.
2. I Gotta Know – The twang is pure country and the beat is rock and roll at its very heart . Hank Marvin's guitar licks, all over this song, every hole he can find, is terrific. As for Cliff, this is kinda sexy: "I'm lonesome and I'mlovesick, I've got my mind on lipstick".
3. The Snake And The Bookworm – This is a terrific story song; and the bass, by the late Jet Harris, is all compact licks and CARRIES THE MELODY. You better believe McCartney knew this song backwards.
4. Move It – A legitimate blues powered rocker as good as anything Stateside. The bass is so fuzzy, it sounds like feedback, and is Hank finger picking? Nah, but it is so close it sounds as if it is. Cliff doesn't get dirty enough but that's the only problem here.
5. Living Doll – This song was HUMONGOUS. A wonderful syncopated beat carries the (very sexist) story: "Gonna lock her up in a trunk so no big hunk will take her away from me"? But is a charming, clever song and Hank Marvin channels his inner Scotty Moore for a stupendous solo. One of the most addictive tracks you'll ever here and helped carry the Great Sir Cliff Richards for over 50 years.
