Ata Saturday early evening punk rock gig, I picked up a The Rival Mob tee-shirt and also a $2 shared fanzine. One side "Shit Sheet", the other side "Greatest City In The World Fanzine". And yes folks, it is exactly the way you remember it, long interviews of bands you don't know, cut and paste montage pix, and good clean fun for all the family.
"Greatest City" is the more fun of the two. Written by Deeb Runlea, who also runs Shit Hawk Records. From a what I did last summer, to an interview with Milk Music, to a a very very strange part straight up and part completely nasty re-writing of A Seinfeld episode by one Larry Lawless, this is the real deal
Best of all is an interview with bassist Kira Roessler who used to be in Black Flag and is now in duo with Mike Watt of Minutemen. Sample question: "would you rather eat cereal with a table spoon or a tea spoon?" For the answer to that and other questions, email Deed at deedrunleat@gmail.com.
"Shit Sheet" has its moments, but the white on black layout makes it a bitch to read.Still, there is a lot of fun stuff going, including this first question to remember from an interview with Leatherface: "Fuck, let's get started. Hi, I'm Mike. Who are you guys?"
So buy it and support our local fanzines. I will leave you with the following musical dialogue:
"Is pop punk OK in 2011?"
"Conditionally"
