Fall Out Boy's Back! "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" Reviewed

THE TAKE OVER, THE BREAK'S OVER!  BELIEVERS NEVER DIE!  LONG LIVE THE CAR CRASH HEARTS!  FALL OUT BOY IS BACK, BABY!

The band of my childhood, the one band that i know every word to every song by, went on hiatus what feels like forever ago.  Seeing them three times live, meeting Wentz, and all the other memories they've given me over the years was suddenly halted because of this.  FOB went on a radio show and announced a new song, new album, new tour.  HOLY CRAP.

Their new song, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark". is what hindered my learning on the fourth.  I read the announcement on Twitter, downloaded it off iTunes immediately, and put it on repeat.  It is flawless; it's everything I wanted and more.  Though highly reminiscent of their old stuff (very circa 'Infinity On High'), but also a bit more punchy and it absorbed Patrick's Stump solo style.  It's a new and improved Fall Out Boy that I absolutely fell in love with.

The beat is fresh and new, and Patrick's voice is better than ever.  It's like every time he opens his mouth to sing, it's three times better than the last time.  Andy Hurley's still got it on the drums- strong and powerful, on point and intense.  Pete's bass skills haven't slipped a bit, and Joe is still shreddin'.  It's like they were never gone.  It's just been on shuffle for quite some time and it keeps getting better.  When the song hits the chorus, it escalates the way I wanted it to; FOB's choruses are always punchy and perfect, and this is no exception.  The balance of the tune gives hint to just how long the band's been around, and how they're seasoned veterans.  It's not the best song they've ever done, and it's by no means the worst, but it's a light at the end of the tunnel.  There's so much ahead for the guys, and I can't wait.

Fall Out Boy's on fire.

 Welcome back, boys.
