Fall Out Boy "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" Acoustic Reviewed

I think Fall Out Boy is probably one of the most influential and talented bands of all time.

They did an acoustic version of "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" and it's a thousand times better than the original.  The studio version is too over-edited and kind of obnoxious; I mean I still like it, but this is far superior.  I tend to gravitate towards the stripped-down versions of tunes, and FOB’s music is no exception.

Patrick's voice is at its best when it's entirely untouched.  He sounds like he has a cold or something because some of the notes were scratchy- I like it better that way.  The way he hits the higher notes even though he may not sound “as good” is admirable and it really shows off that even when his voice breaks or isn’t as strong, it’s still perfect.  Also, his diction has gotten better, which I think is wonderful.  I wish that he sang like this all the time.  I simply cannot get enough of the scratchy and rough quality of his vocals.  Something about them accentuate the beauty of the highs and lows in the melody.

I love how Joe and Andy participated as well.  The two of them are talented and it was nice to see them be a part of it; typically it’s just the lead singer and a guitar.  That’s something I’ve always thought was great about the band- they always are part of each others’ musical endeavors and are very supportive.

I was completely blown away by the a capella bit in the middle.  The way Patrick stretched his voice and the jump into the chorus afterwards fit together made it stand out.  I especially love how you can hear both Andy and Joe sing as well, and they’re not too shabby.  It is by far the best live version of any of their songs to date.

Fall Out Boy can do no wrong.
