Ceelo, the rap superstar, could tell you easy that the Good Die Usually Over Bullshit, and he will be telling you that among other things on May 31st where his reunited atlanta rap posse the Goodie Mob will be playing along with one of my favorite rappers of all time, Busta Rhymes and upper and coming Skylar Gray still working out her “Love The way You Lie” chops.
Of course Cee Lo solo himself is headlining, and given the Goodie Mob’s return I expect some Gnarls Barkly stuff, a through the past darkly type concert. Plus lots of reference to “The Voice” as well.
I haven’t seen Busta Bust o stage in twenty years, the last time he was opening for Puff Daddy with one Jay-Z and putting everybody else in the star filled stage to shame.
But this isn’t just star power, it is a circus of fun and providing the opening salvos will be wordspot and the Illest, young but old school rappers of the first order; Lauriana Mae, Jazz and R&B vocalist and roots rocker Alexandra & The Starlight Band. All of these names have buzz appeal, and Alexander Starlight has a killer new song “Love Ain’t Easy”.
All in all it has the feel of a big night for modern soul sounds, and a Friday no less at Barclay Center, May 31st. Tickets on sale at Ticketmaster!
