This post is gonna suck, I just know it.
Sometimes you can’t get your head round a story and my head hasn’t gotten round one damn thing I’ve written today. It is almost amazing I can write such crap and if it was somebody else, I would let em have it.
Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs didn’t quite suck during his opening set with Asla Tuesday night at the rock and roll circus, it is not his fault that the first five minutes of lovely, backgroundish calliopish circus music thrilled me with a rush of pleasure that the following 10 minutes didn’t approach and that as the tones shfted, the mimes? Acrobats? Who started as mile distractions ended up being… well, unmild distractions.
A little later on Aslan stripped on a guitar and Nick, dressed like Zed in Pulp Fiction, came out and still dillied and dallied about with mood music. Though by know some acrobats made weird and geographic shapes with their bodies.
And finally, after 45 interminable minutes it was over.
So perhaps it was alright. Certainly, in a different enviroment I wouldn’t have minded it but it is like Nick had mistaken a Circus for a morgue.
On the other hand, everything I’ve written today has sucked today so maybe I am just tired and grumpy.
