Earth, Wind And Fire At Beacon Theater, Wednesday. September 25th, 2013, Reviewed

The legendary band peakin’ at the beacon

8:15 start….9:48 finish. Home by 10:08p. It’s my dream night. No openers. No encores. No bullshit in between. 40 years of music — from the 70s to present.  How these voices and faces don’t change is beyond me. These guys were performing before I was even born, which makes sense why I might have been one of the youngest in the audience.

But the night was nostalgic. Philip Bailey can sing effortlessly and he hits those high notes that people probably heard on the east side of town.

Verdine white was all deck out in his 1970s glittery jump suit and I swear it’s 1976 when you watch him. Still the energy of the band. He does not disappoint. A smile from year to year or he was high as a kite. Either way.

Ralph Johnson is the smooth operator but together with all the horns, that saxophone that I love, the percussionist, the banjos, the guitars and the dance moves that never change – the show did not disappoint. The beacon was on its feet all night with everyone dancing in the aisles. These guys put on a show!!

 Here is the setlist:

Good times at the Beacon tonight!!!
