Last night I attended the Giant Step now monthly party at The Good Ones in the basement of the Hudson Hotel. It was ROCKIN, especially for a rainy monday night. I was maybe the youngest person there, but that didn’t matter because everyone was there to have a great time.
Legendary DJ Danny Krivit was on the 1s and 2s, and I was thoroughly impressed. I had heard big things about the Body & Soul DJ but I had to experience his original brand of “editing” to really get how good he is. He didn’t miss a beat throughout his 4-hour set, and his track selection was off the hook. Most of the people I talked to there have been following Krivit for years and were not surprised at all by his expertise; in fact they knew pretty much what to expect.
Not only will I be attending every Giant Step (http://www.giantstep.net/ ) party coming up in their monthly Hudson Series, but I will also be looking into DJ Danny Krivit and studying his art of the “re-edit.”
By the way, the next Giant Step Hudson Series party is already scheduled for October 25 with guest DJ – I think I’ve heard of this guy before – ?uestlove. Count me in.
