DJ Cobra: Iller Than You'll Ever Be -by Woody Fuller

Andrew Bagg, better known by his alias DJ Cobra, is one of Cali’s best Djs, and has somehow managed to stay under the radar for quite some time, until now.
His earlier collection of jams, “Iller,” is a pretty nasty hour long mash up of some of your, ( or at least my) favorite songs. It consists of almost 50 songs, none of which are over 2 mins.

It doesn’t get boring or repetitive with constant mixes and mashes getting thrown at you, maybe even too much. You might really be diggin Biggies, “Dead Wrong” verse over some other beat, but all the sudden BAM, Beyonce over some boom boom clap type beats. CRAZY

If you like Girltalk, you WILL like Dj Cobra, same idea, a bit more chilled out. He mashes mostly Hip/hop,( loves Weezy), with a twist of Top 40, and some classic rock zest to mix up a perfect CD; one ideal for a hr commute into Brooklyn from midtown for example.

This dude loves Lil Wayne- Weezy count: 3. Bagg is very hip/hop biased.

BEST sample by FAR:
Will Farrell repeating “your my boy blue” (from movie Old School), before a ‘Dust in the Wind’ mashed with some rap.

My comments on his album cover- F*cking genius!!! I was in the middle of a very similar photo shoot, ( doing some home decorating), however i had no choice but to burn all my pics as soon as I saw his “iller” CD cover. Kudos my dude, get em.

Press play. Sit back. Go through a DJ Cobra trip. See you on the other side.

Next up Illionaire -which i will be reviewing soon!!!

High lights of his sample choices-
Justice – We are your Friends
Biggie – Dead Wrong
Blink 182 – All the Small things
Beatles( Let it be) vs. Andre 3000
Cutting Crew ( Died in your arms) over rap, someone did already with Hova’s “Moment of Clarity” of Black Album, which is a pretty dope jam, but so is this one.

As it progresses there is a shift to more of a downtempo, chill mash. I dig it.
