Would the 50’s be the next new thing? I had already noticed it with newcomer on the LA scene Hanni El Khatib, who, however, has a much bluesier sound, but Devin Therriault’s attitude is reminiscent of that same era.
And then I looked at some of his pictures on line, and yes, the retro look is definitely there, the rockabilly black leather jacket with the Elvis-greaser hairdo and the big shiny belt.
His stage presence has been described as flamboyant, his delivery passionate and his antics recalling those of Iggy Pop and New York Dolls era David Johansen! He seems to have built a personality from a mosaic combination of the best icons of the rock scene.
