One more time, Hole’s Pretty On The Inside was great, Hole’s Cobain inspired (at least) Live Through This was a masterpiece, Hole’s MTV Unplugged And Plugged bootwas filled with songs that were fabulous and still not released. And Celebrity Skin ended Hole at one fell swoop.
And Billy Corgan was the Svengali behind Celebrity Skin.
And neither Corgan and Vedder combined could write a song as great as, I dunno, “Heartshape Box” if Port Au Prince depended upon it.
So it is with something in the nature of an absolute bafflement that I read Courtney Love wrote Hole’s new album Nobody’s Daughter with the dire Corgan. For fucks sake girl, get Reznor. He owes you one.
Here’s the review (sight unheard): Those of us who loved Cobain and Hole and even Love prayed that she had learnt her lesson after decades of failing to write a single memorable song. Unfortunately our prayers remain unanswered
