OK, the pix is a little on the unneccessary side, the post ain't.
It is not my fault d'Angelo isn't the premiere r&b man of the 21st Century. The purveyor of precisely two albums, each a masterpiece, "One Mo Gin'" has its hat in the ring for best song of the century, his performance at Radio City Music Hall -a three hour act of stamina and bravado, is the one to beat. and other than a featured slot on a Q-tip strack and an arrest for soliciting a prostitute, we haven't heard much.
BUT THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE!!!
According to an interview with ?uestlove of the Roots in Pitchfork, D'Angelo is nearly back: "Apparently, the elusive soul singer– whose last album, the stunning Voodoo, is nearly 12 years old– saw the dustup as an opportunity to take ?uest back on the road with him when D starts a European tour in January. And as for that forever-awaited follow-up to Voodoo, ?uestlove says it's "97% done" and that it's "the black version of [The Beach Boys'] Smile ." While there have admittedly been countless false alarms as far as D'Angelo's comeback over the years, 2012 is looking extremely promising at the moment."
Anybody else says Smile and you do smile, knowingly. But D'Angelo is the real deal and instantaneously becomes the biggest story of 2012. If he plays a concert in nyc, beg, steal, borrow, but go see him.
