Rihanna’s brittle and somewhat disappointing concert at MSG on Thursday had the two big time tabs music critics in disagreement (as an aside, I forgot to mention an excellent “Don’t Stop the Music” in my review).
Dan, in a review that woulda been a lot better if it was actually right, loved her, Farber, with his typically restrained intelligence, thought it wasa harsh overblown mess.
Farber was right of course.
As Jim notes, despite all the bangs and booms, it is an off putting show. And although the little girls sure do understand, still it is an asexual assault which, while seeming to applaud self reliance, in fact does the complete opposite, a horrorshow haunted by Chris Brown’s violent actions that leaves Rihanna making depressing, downbeat albums and bringing in the armed forces to, in the end, protect her.
