Jim Farber of the New York Daily News gave the new Strokes album 2 stars, Julian Casablancas gave it 3 stars and the Roling Stone gave it 4 stars. Me, I am in 2 1/2 range but I've only streamed it. It may go up.
So who is right? My bet is time will side with Farber. For one thing, Rolling Stone are not trustworthy. And for another one would expect Julian to react on an upwards scale.Farber wrote " The new "Angels" has been touted as a return to the spit and verve of the Strokes game-shifting 2001 debut, "Is This It." But this isn't that. It's just a characterless version of their initial style, as if someone followed a favorite recipe but left out all the ingredients that give it taste.wrote: "
A little brutal that, but one thing is for sure, Julian's solo album was better. And another? I warned you months and months ago it wouldn't be great. The second I heard that casablancas was recording his vocals seperate from the band.
