Cobra Starship is streaming their latest album, Night Shades, on their Facebook and I love it. The album comes out on August 29th.
Though I still don't forgive them for touring with, excuse me, Justin Bieber, so I'm still a little on the fence about them, but they sure do know how to make a good album.
"You Belong To Me" is a beautiful opening track. It's so catchy and the lyrics are cute. Gabe's voice has matured significantly and it's the best its ever been. The feel of the song is classic Cobra, but with a hint of some more mellow influences. It's not as party, and it's chill. CS is like, the ultimate party band, and this song shows that they're versatile and can write songs that aren't always just for some sort of entertainment value.
"Fool Like Me(feat. The Plastiscines)" is my favourite song off the album. It almost chokes me up a bit. I've been listening to this band for ages and they're so grown up now and this song reflects that so much. I keep on listening to it, I adore it. There's not a part that I dislike in the least. It's unique.
"Anything For Love" was a tune I didn't like at first, but it grew on me. It's so catchy and the lyrics are really great. I love the keyboards in this one, they add a really cool and refreshing feel to it. All of the elements that went into it instrumentally make it really stand out from the rest of the songs on the album. I've never heard anything like it before, it's wicked impressive.
"F*cked In Love" is brilliant. It's totally perfect and every second kept me captivated. It's addicting and fun. Though still really dancy, it doesn't feel cliche or too young. It shows off the band's talent as a whole.
Night Shades is a great album that really shows that Cobra Starship has really grown up.
Not that I forgive them for that tour partner…
