So the CMJ Music Marathon is heading upon us filled with sleepless nights, not to mention sleepless afternoons, and 1400 shows in 5 days is upon us and fair enough, nobody is gonna see them all with all the will in the world. Indeed, if you were doing 10 a day for five days that would equal 50 which would leave, er, 1350 bands you’ll be missing.

So here is a rock nyc approved list of bands to catch. Of course, we have never heard of the majority of these bands so keep that in mind as we give you our CMJ picks 2013!

ARMS – Loudly melodic indie guy who has been away for a coupla years but has a new album coming out.

Au Revoir Simone – Indie melodic moodiness, with a new album, a fairly good one, kust released.

Big Black Delta – Jonathan Bates one man electronic band

The Bongos – 1980s power poppers have a new album released.

The Bottom Dollars – Really great rock and rollers

Charlotte Sometimes – really better than you could believe singer songwriter

Christopher Paul Stelling – The great folkie with a new album under his belt

Fuck Buttons – Blissful electronica it says here, yup that’s it.

Glenn  Tilbrook – Wonder if he auditioned?

Patrick McGrath – An  alternative Patrick Stickles

Ponyboy – Cali blues gal

Quilt – Psychedelic rock experimental band

Sisqo – Wonder if he will do “Thong Song”?

Tift Merrit – Excellent singer songwriter.

Yuck – And lest we forget, our new fave band in the world.
