Rated R is a crap album and while Brown’s isn’t great, it isn’t bad.
The result is predictable. Brown said he was sorry and got on with it, Rihanna poured over her sense of being violated for the entire album. That’s her prerogative but it is her responsibility to turn it into great pop art and she has failed.
There are two morals to this story:
a) just because the media wanted Rated R to be great is not an excuse for claiming it’s great when it aint.
b) just because Rihanna feels violated does not make her exempt from WRITING FUCKING SONGS
