So I noticed that when I was offered a freebie and cool mp3 from Pitchfork I tended to find myself on Stereogum so today I cut out the middleman and went on this warehouse for freebie and legal songs.
So this is what I found:
Dear God I hate Myself – Xiu Xiu – Why don’t pop bands listen to me? Xiu Xiu was such a crap name I never bothered with them but this bleepy pop stroke where the melody bubbles up from time to time proves I was wrong. Plus, anybody who doesn’t hate themself doesn’t know themselves.
No Intention (Acoustic) – Dirty Projectors – This is such a weird band. They are great when a soul singer gets a hand on em and perfect when they just play it straight.
Harry Patch – Beck – Ten minutes. Ten miniutes? It goes on and on…
Cousins (Toy Selectah Mex More Remix) – Vampire Weekend – Let me tell you everything I know about how to remix a song: nothing. And I coulda done a better job than this pathetic rip on where EVERY ONE IN THE WORLD INCLUDING THE BAND KNOWS WHERE THE BEAT HITS
Halo – Major Lazer – Not bad, but we haven’t needed hip hop vocals on pop songs since ODB died.
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seatle – Jay Reatard – RIP but this is a bit pointless.
