Inside the fairy tale oasis which is the Celebrate Brooklyn music series in Prospect Park, I saw Hal Willner’s Freedom Rides Project and Lou Reed perform last night.. An incredible and must needed "vacation" from the busy, nature-less city, we roamed aimlessly around Prospect Park, before settling down in the grass and listening to the cool music.
Lights hanging from the trees, kids doing cart wheels, and running around with glow sticks, local beer/wines, local ice creamerys, and lots of awesome people. Similar to SummerStage in central park, Celebrate Brooklyn which was llaunched in 1979 as a catalyst for a Brooklyn performing arts scene and to bring people back into Prospect Park, features many different musicians from different genres through out the summer. It is coined as an "early anchor in the park's revitalization and has become one of the city's foremost summer cultural attractions."
The lovely people dancing and frolicking in the grass
