Carly Rae Jepsen's "This Kiss" Reviewed

Carly Rae Jepsen is the luckiest woman in the music biz world. First Justin Bieber sent a tweet heard round the world about her first single and then, before her second single could be released, Owl City released a duet with her. Without Bieber's helping social media hand, "Call Me Maybe" would never have been heard through the white noise, and without Owl City's "Good Time", "The Kiss" would've been the follow-up to "Call Me Maybe" and trust me on this one, that would not have been pretty.

It is not that "Good Time" is in the same league as "Call Me maybe", it isn't, but it is still a clever, instantly disposal pop song. "Maybe" is more, "Maybe" will be recalled by many people whenever they think of the Summer 2012. As addictive as salty peanuts, as cute as a button, and that was back when we thought Carly Rae was 12 years old and that helped no end as well.

But "The Kiss" is not a good song. It is a very ordinary slice of electronic modern pop and it is too flimsy to emerge as a hit single. It is, in fact, a very boring  track and if the album isn't better than this we have a problem.

Fortunately for Carly Rae, she has nothing much riding on it.
